Strategic Planning and Development
We understand that strategy sits at the heart of any transaction and therefore assist our clients in placing the transaction in strategic context. This approach ensures that the client remains focused on what they are trying to achieve and is designed to protect and maximise value in the business.
Strategy is an overused and often misunderstood term. Our approach is to break strategy down into meaningful elements and focus on execution and delivery - the difference between success and failure. We believe in word economy and that fundamentally a business can be managed with three powerful tools:
- A one-page strategic framework used to communicate core purpose, values, vision and strategies both throughout the organisation and to external audiences if required. Don't be deceived by the simplicity of this tool - it is the outcome of a structured and robust process whereby management are required to ask themselves some fairly frank questions.
- A 12-month tactical plan articulating how the agreed strategy is to be delivered - an area in which many organisations fall down.
- A one-page performance report to monitor the effectiveness of the agreed strategy. This is a measurement of what genuinely creates value in the business and goes beyond traditional financial performance measures.
First and foremost these tools are designed for management teams, but they can be adapted for the purposes of banks, investors and other key stakeholders. Given the increasing scrutiny demonstrated by the banks, in particular, these tools go further than a traditional strategic plan and provide assurances that the plan is believable and deliverable.
