Strategy

Strategic Development

We understand that strategy sits at the heart of any transaction and therefore assist our clients in placing the transaction in a strategic context. This approach ensures that the client remains focused on what they are trying to achieve and is designed to protect and maximise value in the business.

Strategy is an overused and often misunderstood term. Our approach is to break strategy down into meaningful elements and focus on execution and delivery - the difference between success and failure. Our Strategy Engagements are governed by a well established ‘Value Framework’ which is used to define, document and communicate the key strategic elements which sit at the heart of any successful and thriving business. A clearly defined strategy is crucial to the success of any company at all stages of the business lifecycle – whether it be a start-up, an established company focused on growth and acquisitions or a company where the shareholders are looking to exit and achieve the highest possible price. Strategy also plays a critical role for companies which are underperforming and require a clearly defined and documented turnaround strategy.

The key output of our strategy engagements is a one-page strategic framework used to communicate core purpose, values, vision and strategies both throughout the organisation and to external audiences if required. This simple and effective tool provides an invaluable insight into any business and is the outcome of a structured and robust process which forces management to ask themselves some fairly frank questions. Our one-page strategic framework often forms the basis of more comprehensive strategic business plans.

The outputs of our strategy offering are, first and foremost, designed to assist management teams, but they can be adapted for the purposes of banks, investors and other key stakeholders. Given the increasing scrutiny demonstrated, by banks in particular, these tools go further than a traditional business plan and provide assurances that businesses growth plans are both believable and deliverable.

Strategic Business Planning

Business plans and financial projections are an essential activity for every business irrespective of its age, size and stage within the business lifecycle.

A typical AAB Business Plan would include detailed review and analysis of the history of the business, its current status, the factors which are critical to its success, the market in which it operates, its plans for the future including how it intends to achieve them, the strengths and weaknesses of the company in addition to relevant opportunities and threats plus supporting historical and projected financial information.

Previous Strategic Business Plans produced by AAB have been utilised for a wide variety of purposes and to communicate key business plans and objectives to a range of both internal and external stakeholders.

In addition, many of our strategy engagements also result in the production of additional deliverables focused on ensuring that, both Pre and Post-Transaction, the defined Strategy is implemented successfully and future business performance is monitored accordingly.
